The theme for Social Work Month 2021 is Social Workers Are Essential. They are trained to help people address personal and systemic barriers to optimal living and are employed to effect positive change with individuals, families, groups and entire communities. Social workers are part of the vital caregiving team that supports youth in foster care. We want to show our appreciation by sharing some of their stories this month.

Today is National California Day. California became the nation’s 31st state in 1850. It is the most populous state in America and one of the largest. Celebrate California Day by visiting one of the many state parks or nature reserves or learning about the state’s history.

California teens in foster care often need extra support planning for an independent future when they age out of the system. CASA volunteers provide specific guidance for achieving high-school graduation and obtaining the resources needed for self-reliance. #volunteer #beacasa
